Following in the footsteps of his father, Carl started his railroad career by accepting a job with RailTex during the acquisition of the South Carolina Central Railroad in Hartsville, South Carolina. Over the next 18 years, Carl received various transfers and promotions, within RailTex, leading to assignments in San Antonio, Texas; Carthage, Missouri; Petersburg, Indiana; Salt Lake City, Utah; Tengiz, Kazakhstan and Ahoskie, North Carolina. After the consolidation of RailTex and RailAmerica in 2000, Carl accepted the position of Vice President of Western Operations for OmniTrax in Denver, Colorado.
Returning to the Carolinas in 2006, Carl held the position of Vice-President and General Manager of the Aberdeen, Carolina & Western Railroad in Candor, North Carolina until 2018. In 2019, Carl accepted the job as President of the Aberdeen & Rockfish Railroad.
Carl, his wife Michelle and their four children (Alexandria, Dalton, Colby and Wyatt) enjoy spending time on the family farm in eastern North Carolina and on the beaches of the Outer Banks.
Email CarlAfter being raised on the family farm in Richmond County, North Carolina, Danny joined the Aberdeen & Rockfish Railroad in 1988. After years of dedicated service, and performing numerous duties for the railroad, Danny was promoted to the position of CMO in 2001. Danny continues to be an intricate part in the continued success and ongoing operations of the Aberdeen & Rockfish Railroad.
When time allows, Danny enjoys fishing, gardening and working cattle on the family farm.
Email DannyAfter receiving his degree in civil engineering from Central Piedmont Community College, Richard began his carrier as a field engineer for McDermott & Street Construction Company in Charlotte, North Carolina. After nearly 16 years in commercial construction, Richard joined the Aberdeen & Rockfish Railroad (AR) in 1993 as Assistant Roadmaster. Since joining the AR, Richard has attained numerous industry certifications from the University of Tennessee, Norfolk Southern Railroad (NS) and the Association of American Railroads (AAR) enabling him to accept increasing levels of responsibility.
Richard and his wife Jeanne, reside in Laurinburg, North Carolina and enjoy traveling when time permits.
Richard also enjoys photography, woodworking and working with historical railroad equipment at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, North Carolina.
Email RichardUpon graduating from Scotland County High School in Laurinburg, North Carolina, Nick continued his love of baseball at Western Carolina University when he was drafted by the San Francisco Giants organization in 2009. After playing professional baseball with the Giants, Nick accepted a position with the Aberdeen & Rockfish Railroad in 2014. Since joining the AR Railroad, Nick has been qualified as a conductor and engineer while also learning additional aspects of the industry. As his experience and knowledge have grown over his career, Nick has taken on additional responsibilities such as dispatching, crew coordination, and billing. As the railroad’s primary point of contact, Nick enables A&R to provide the level of personalized service our customers expect.
Nick and his wife Christi live in Laurinburg, North Carolina with their two children Knox and Rynn. As a family, they enjoy “doing whatever the kids have going on” and spending time at the beach.
Email NickMike, a life long resident of Montgomery County, North Carolina, started his railroad career when he accepted a position with the Aberdeen, Carolina & Western Railroad in 2001. After accumulating some experience in the maintenance of way department, Mike attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and Chattanooga where he received certifications in track inspection, bridge inspection and railroad track design. Mike also received his certification in exothermic welding from Orgo-Therm. Mike’s dedication, knowledge and continued training has allowed him to progress from Track Laborer to Track Inspector and Roadmaster. In 2021 Mike became the Roadmaster for the Aberdeen & Rockfish Railroad.
Mike, his wife Dana, and their daughter Emma reside in Troy, North Carolina where they enjoy traveling and watching Emma play softball.
